Six people investigated for misappropriation of brand clothing that was then sold online
LA RIOJA
The Civil Guard, in the framework of the 'Goa' operation, has investigated six people as alleged perpetrators, in different degrees of participation, of the crimes of misappropriation and reception. Those involved are six men, aged 46 and 52, of Spanish nationality and residents of Cantabria and La Rioja.
During the actions, 301 clothing items from well-known national brands -pants, shirts, dresses, blouses, jackets, sweaters, etc.- whose market value amounts to 10,500 euros have been intervened in a Villamediana warehouse.
As detailed by the Benemérita in a note, the main person investigated is the representative of an international transport company, which offered lots of products classified by insurers as "waste/residual" to auctioneers - merchandise unfit for a road accident during the transport or excess due to errors in the distribution.
Ads on a social network
Operation 'Goa' is the result of "monitoring" carried out by the Civil Guard on the Internet -cybernetic patrols-, to make it difficult to sell items of illicit origin in online buying/selling platforms and on social networks.
During these actions, agents from the Investigation Area of the Civil Guard in Logroño detected the insertion of various advertisements by a user of a well-known social network, in which clothes from well-known Spanish brands were for sale. These ads were accompanied by photographs and short videos, in which the garments on offer could be viewed with original labels, packaging and security alarms without removing them.
301 items of clothing seized
The control established over this social network user allowed investigators to locate the property he used to store and sell clothing. During their inspection, the agents proceeded to intervene 301 articles of clothing of all kinds and hundreds of security alarms, since their lawful origin could not be justified.

The intervention of the clothing was brought to the attention of those responsible for the affected brands, who told the agents its illegal origin, since they only marketed their items through direct sales in an official physical store, or online through their respective web pages.
Finally, it was possible to determine that the seized clothing had been made available to auctioneers by the representative of a well-known international transport company, to reintroduce the market fraudulently.
G.C.
Presumably, the representative of this company came to make and offer to an auctioneer in La Rioja more than 15 lots of various material owned by insurance companies, after having been classified by them as "waste or residual" - merchandise damaged in road accidents, during transport or incidents in delivery. This type of denomination does not necessarily imply that the auctioned product is damaged or unusable, proof of this is that most of the seized clothing lacked defects.
The person in charge of the transport company and the five buyers of the lots, once they heard their statements, were released, but not before being warned of the obligation to appear before the Judicial Authority when required.
