Drug trafficking: in three days they promoted two Brazilian bosses in Santa Cruz;It is investigated whether crimes are related

In less than 72 hours, two Brazilians, cconsidered drug lords and with prolific records in their country, were murdered in the department of Santa Cruz. The Police and Prosecutor's Office are investigating whether both crimes are related and exchanging information with Brazilian authorities.

In both murders, the hitmen had the same “modus operandi”. They followed their victims and shot them at point-blank range until they were sure they had taken their lives. The deceased are; Everton Cándido Gomes da Silva (34) and Marciel Ribeiro de Oliveira (35), the first received 17 shots and the second 11.

The Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc), together with the Departmental Prosecutor's Office, has requested information on the background of the foreigners victimized from the Brazilian authorities and is now investigating whether their murders have relationship. Preliminarily, in both cases it is believed that it was about settling accounts.

Despite the raids, the police were unable to apprehend those responsible for committing the violent crimes in Santa Cruz. However, some witnesses have already testified and provided sufficient data on the characteristics of the hitmen and on the activities carried out by the victims in the department.

He had 17 criminal proceedings

Everton Cándido Gomes da Silva, alias 'Pupunha', was riddled with bullets on Wednesday (5:15 p.m.) in San Matías. He was driving a stolen Hyundai vehicle with a Brazilian license plate when two gunmen on a motorcycle approached and shot him multiple times.

The man, after receiving 17 bullet wounds, became unstable at the wheel and crashed. He got out of his vehicle to call for help and collapsed on the sidewalk. Fortunately, his partner, who was with him, was not injured. Evertón Cándido Gómez was assassinated on Wednesday in San Matías.

According to the Brazilian media, the foreigner was one of the 30 captured during Operation Return that the Brazilian Federal Police carried out in 2009. At the time of the intervention, Everton was the head of a group of drug traffickers.

Those apprehended at that time actively participated in the theft and received stolen vehicles to later exchange them for drugs and the acquisition of weapons.

In this operation, in which Everton Gomes was killed, sand seized cocaine base paste, trucks were hijacked and stolen cars, operations that were carried out in the regions Brazilians from Cáceres, Cuiabá, Várzea Grande, Rondonópolis, Mirassol D'Oeste, Nova Olímpia, Tangará da Serra and Campo Novo dos Parecis, in Mato Grosso; Vitória, in Espírito Santo; Empress, in Maranhão; and Goiânia and Rio Verde, in the state of Goiás.

The Jusbrasil website indicates that Everton had 17 cases in the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF), four of them in the Superior Court of Justice (STJ).

The biggest drug trafficker in Goiás

Marciel Ribeiro de Oliveira, 35, was killed on Friday (11:08 p.m.) with 11 shots on the outskirts of a store on Los Cusis avenue in the capital of Santa Cruz, between Beni and Germany. The Brazilian was talking to five people when a hitman approached him and shot him.

The man was found among his belongings a foreigner ID issued by Segip with the (false) name of Eduardo Maciel Guimaraes Riberio, which was valid until March 3, 2025.Marciel Ribeiro de Oliveira was riddled with bullets on Los Cusis avenue.

According to Brazilian media, Marciel was better known as the “narco of ostentation.” He earned this name because he spent his money obtained from drug trafficking on luxury items, such as jewelry, watches, electronic devices, cars and others.

In fact, when he was arrested for the first time in 2016, in Brazil, a boat valued at one million dollars and a car that cost $500,000 were seized. That year, Marciel was apprehended along with his brother Marcelo Ribeiro de Oliveira during the police operation called Erga Ommes de Genarc, in a luxury condominium in Goiania. Both were considered in their country to be the biggest drug traffickers in the state of Goiás.

In this operation, the Brazilian Police destroyed a drug crystallization laboratory and managed to arrest 11 people. In addition, more than 33 kilos of cocaine and 180 kilos of supplies were seized.

In 2017, Marciel managed to escape from the Anápolis public prison during visiting hours, outwitting the prison guards. His brother Marcelo was released after the penalty and was killed in 2019 during a confrontation with the police.
