This Mexican startup will manufacture the new Delta Air Lines amenities kits
The production of the kits started in 2021, and will be available on the airline flights from next February in the Delta One class, Antonio Nuño, CEO and confunder of Subone Subwhere, tells Expansion.
“Delta was worried about how we could make millions of products a year in a sustainable environment, so we invited them to Oaxaca.They visited many of the workshops, we explained how production was possible (...) taking into account the artisanal impact, ”she said.
The startup will prepare the products of the hand of 250 artisans, through threads obtained through the pedal loom technique, which uses regenerated and recycled cotton thread of maquilas of Puebla and Tlaxcala of the company Hilaturas Los Angeles.In addition, the inputs are obtained less than 200 miles from which the products are made, with raw cotton that avoids the dye, and with it, the use of water and chemicals.

Through this process, Delta Air Lines expects to reduce its annual use of plastic by more than 40 tons, by eliminating five single -use plastic components, such as closures and packaging.
In the medium term, Somo Subwhere seeks to continue growing in the US market, with an emphasis on the business Business to Business similar to that of Delta.The Mexican startup has already worked similarly with 50 other companies, which are increasingly looking for sustainable environmental alternatives.
