The factory is located in Indonesia. It's called PT Buma and it's one of several that mass-produces the clothes sold by Ivanka Trump , the clothing brand of the favorite daughter of the president of the United States. There are 2,759 employees who work there daily and they don't have many things good to say: they denounce that the fees are very low, that they are intimidated , that they are offered more money only if they do not take sick days , that the money is enough for so little that they cannot live with their children.

The British newspaper 'The Guardian' spoke with more than a dozen workers at the factory located in Subang and most say that they are paid the minimum, 170 dollars per month, work overtime and have goals that are impossible to meet. One of them is Alia, who has been working in the workshops since she left high school. She has two children and is married. Her husband is also employed at Buma and they both live in a room that they rent for $30. They keep her children far away, more than an hour away. They are raised by their grandmother and their parents visit them only once a month, when they have enough money to pay for gas and get on their motorcycle to get around. When Alia was told what Ivanka's new book was about, ' Working Women: Rewriting the Rules for Success,' she laughed. Her idea of work-life balance, she said, could be fulfilled if she could see her children more than once a month.

Ivanka Trump publishes a controversial book about working women

Sita is another of the women who sews for Ivanka. She is 23 and she stopped studying when her parents got sick. This is how she came to Buma: "I can't take it anymore. I work unpaid overtime every day. The minimum wage is too low." Another point claimed by the workers is that the company has a habit of firing several and rehiring them just before Ramadan, a month later, to avoid paying the "religious holiday bonus". PT Buma is a company of garments owned by Korean entrepreneurs that started operations in Indonesia in 1999. It is one of the suppliers of G-III Apparel Group, the wholesale manufacturer of Ivanka Trump. Its workers confirm that the conditions in which they spend their days are too far from what the daughter of President Donald Trump proclaims. LA NACIÓN (Argentina) - GDA
