Ford launches its online store: will the dealers disappear?
Ford has taken a further step towards digitization. The US manufacturer has just launched a digital store where the customer will be able not only to configure his vehicle, but even to apply for funding.
To authenticate the identity of people, the site uses biometrics, and Ford claims that, thanks to the incorporation of this technology, its Digital store is the first in the country to break the legal barrier that prevented customers from paying for a vehicle or receiving credit approval digitally.
But the creation of digital stores is just the tip of the iceberg of the disruptive moment facing the sector. "this channel is in tune with the change we're already anticipating in the future," says Lucien Pinto, Ford's sales and marketing director in Mexico.
