Field photography | Today

I like to take pictures. I try to photograph life, sensations, feelings... To do so, I prefer the countryside to the city, where the same static landscape is different every day, every hour.

I like the absence of people in the photos. I photograph the silence, the wind, the light, the plowed land, the worked furrows, the miracle of the harvests. Animals that eat, graze, and sleep. I photograph the cold, bare trees, morning dew, frost, oblivion, sunrise. I like to photograph the smell of red, smoky wood in the fireplace. The clean air, the plants, the photosynthesis, the melancholy, the ocher love of the sunset.

However, days ago the field was strange. On the lonely road that goes to the house in the small well, that path where I never find people or cars, there were two large vans and several SUVs. Where before there were only quiet cows I find a team with microphones, and cameras and people dressed in branded jackets without a hint of mud, dressed in straw hats that smell of perfume instead of sweat.

A dapper man, with a fine complexion, clean shaven, spoke facing the camera with one hand placed on the head of a tame cow. Where days ago there was only a dry and empty field, there was a herd of people-sheep smiling, applauding the one who spoke hugging the cow and the one who took his arm off her, with a gesture of disgust, when the red light of the camera.

I put my things in my backpack, got on the bike, and pedaled to the city. I will take photos again, in a few days, when the field stops being theater and returns to being a field.

In the city some young people play tennis without vaccines or masks, just like the teacher. I see president's apprentices dancing, tossing their tousled blond hair, glass of whiskey in hand. I see a Ferrari on the way to the Vivero.

On Avenida de Elvas they build flats. Also a private health clinic, it seems that after the pandemic they are going to be successful. I have seen an image on social networks that says: "We will see when instead of asking us for the health card they ask for the credit card."

Can you make an appointment for my doctor? I forgot my health card. We give it to you, next time you have to bring it. We don't know what will happen when this happens: Can you give me an appointment? I have forgotten the 50 euros.
