Beware OXXO and 7-Eleven! This is the first convenience store in Aurrera
The forecasts that retail would innovate, beyond new technologies, and would establish new sales channels to reach its buyers, has come true. And it is that just a few weeks after Walmart de México announced its introduction into the convenience store segment, this project has already materialized, Aurrera opened its first gas station store in our country.
Traditional convenience stores are characterized by an extension of 223 square meters of packaged consumer items, however, today companies have approached markets with different formats of this type and different products. In particular, Walmart de México warned that its new format consists of "convenience stores attached to gasoline service stations."
These new stores, which will compete with commercial chains such as OXXO and 7-Eleven, "will use a variant of the same brand of the commercial format where they are located, be it Bodega Aurrera, Mi Bodega Aurrera, Sam's Club, Walmat Express or Walmart Supercenter," the retailer previously reported in a statement. This convenience store is attached to an alliance of the retailer with Gazpro.
Karla Fernández, Manager of New Business Development and Project Management for Walmart de México and Central America, reported the inauguration of the first Bodega Aurrera / Tienda Gas, opening that took place in Celaya. “Today we open our first Gas Station Store. Thanks to all the teams that supported us to make this possible,” he posted on his LinkedIn professional profile.
