Consumers preferred to buy clothes and shoes during Black Friday

The railing of the Sambil is not visible from the number of people that surround it in a long and uninterrupted line on the Libertador level, where the main doors of the shopping center are located.
The line is so long that it goes around from the entrance to the exit of the shopping center, and for those who see this panorama without hearing the stories of those waiting there, this would be a clear example of two realities and two countries, but no, the reason is necessity.
People leaning on the railing were waiting to enter a shoe store called Alternative City, which a day earlier reported that its shoes brought from North America, and which normally cost around 40 dollars, would be 20 dollars only for this Black Friday.

Among this crowd that waits without further distancing is Pablo Vidal. He has been waiting since before the Sambil opened on November 26. He arrived at seven in the morning and lined up outside the facility. The reason he's there is to buy a pair of boots just like the black ones he's wearing, except they won't be broken.
Vidal has been wearing his black boots every day for a year. He bought them in the same store and affirms that he comes for others that are the most similar because he not only needs them, but because they are good and he prefers this type of shoe than a sports one whose quality will make it not last long enough.
As soon as he leaves the store with his new boots he turns his eyes towards the clothing stores in search of a sale on some pants. "I'm looking for pants and shoes", with that phrase Pablo sums up the reason for his morning wait and also for this day.
The owner of the store where she bought Vidal, and for which those who are in line glued to the railing are waiting, she says that she expected to have this number of customers due to the sum of followers on the brand's social networks. But "this year has been stronger, people have been gathering all year to take advantage of this promotion," says Alejandra Medina.
In a nearby but much shorter row is 21-year-old Brenda Moncada. Before deciding to go to the mall, she made sure through the Instagram accounts of the stores that the prices were convenient.
“I came directly to the stores that I saw and I did it because it is not too much for one to take advantage of these discounts. It's worth buying because normally there are clothes that cost you 50 dollars and right now you have up to 20 left, with that you're saving a lot, ”says Brenda while she waits.

Opposite Ciudad Alternativa is Pavitas, a well-known women's clothing store in the country. Its manager Madelaine Barrios considers that Black Friday 2021, like last year, "has been quite hard" to work for the number of customers. "In addition, we have discounts on all merchandise and pants from 12 dollars, which when compared to the market we are quite good," she says, expressing that "where there is supply there will always be people."
Madelaine's words come despite the fact that Venezuela is in a pandemic context and a still low percentage of vaccination, but that by measure of the National Executive there is a total flexibility in the last two months of the year.
“Despite the pandemic, I came and the little I have reviewed has seemed cool to me and I came for the discounts because the prices fell completely,” says Bárbara Morín, who while looking at this clothing store says that she is mainly interested in clothing and in footwear.
Barrios goes on to explain that the pandemic "has not been an impediment, people buy with their masks and biosecurity measures." The premises of this shopping center, one of the most important in the city, offer antibacterial to all who enter the stores while the clock ticks on a day that they will work extended hours until 11 at night, but that everyone gives of course it will be until dawn.
On the main avenue of Las Mercedes stands the Tolón Fashion Mall with a relatively similar reality. People mostly concentrate on clothing stores. Brands such as Balú and Pawer are the most popular, but the number of consumers in this shopping center is smaller.
In the case of Pawer, a brand that within its premises not only made sure to disinfect the hands of those who entered, but also limited the number of customers accessing the store, the offers began in advance. One of its vendors assures that during the last weeks they offered a 20% discount, but today there were 2 for 1 on most of the garments, thus leaving a price of up to twenty dollars. For this reason, a line with distance surrounded the premises. Some waiting on a railing.
While the footwear and clothing stores had movement of customers entering and leaving, the reality of the technology stores, electrical appliances or kitchen items, both in shopping centers and with direct access on city streets, did not receive the same attention.
In the stores of Caracas, the reality was that the majority of Venezuelans preferred to buy shoes and clothing before any other object.
