Cheslin Kolbe, new Ambassador of the Laureus Foundation
Cheslin Kolbe, one of the most prominent players in the South African team, a world champion in 2019, has been named Ambassador of the Laureus Sport for good Foundation, following other South African rugby icons such as Jean De Villiers, Schalk Burger and Bryan Havana.
Kolbe was a bronze medal in seven at the 2016 Rio Games and debuted with the Springboks in 2018 in the Rugby Championship against Australia, before scoring his first rehearsal in the Springboks' historic victory over the all Blacks at Wellington a week later. He was a key part of the Springboks squadron that won the World Cup in 2019 and became the second South African to score an essay in a World Cup final, after Makazole Mapimpi in that same match in which South Africa won the World Cup in 2019. In addition, that year he won the best player of the year in the top 14, the best rehearsal of the season and was also chosen the best player of the top 14 in the World Cup.
Morné du Plessis, President of Laureus Sport for good Foundation SA, said: "Cheslin Kolbe is an extraordinary player and inspiration for many children in the communities of South Africa. Of humble origin, it is a testimony that sport has the capacity to change the course of life. We are very happy to welcome you to the Laureus Family and we look forward to seeing you prosper and inspire children from all over South Africa."

"it is a privilege and an honor to be received as Laureus Ambassador. The work that Laureus Foundation has done around the world is incredible and I am delighted to be associated with such an important organization. I can't wait to help what I can and create opportunities for children who urgently need guidance and help and who want to create a better future," says Cheslin Kolbe.
Ambassadors Laureus are a select group of athletes, active and retired, who have achieved sporting greatness or made important contributions to the sports community during their careers. They are recognized as successful models and icons and have offered their services to support the work of Laureus Sport for good. Ambassadors voluntarily offer their time to work for the Foundation, whose mission is to use sport as a means to combat some of the most difficult social challenges facing young people today, such as juvenile delinquency, gangs, HIV / AIDS, discrimination, social exclusion, lack of education and health problems such as obesity.
Since its inception, Laureus has raised more than 150 million euros for projects that have helped to improve the lives of millions of young people.
