10 tips to consume clothes in a more conscious way with the planet
The clothes we wear have a lot to do with climate change. The first step to take care of the planet is to become aware of our harmful habits and begin to change them. One is the fashion industry. Production represents 5% of global carbon emissions, according to a report from the World Economic Forum this year. This refers to the emissions that are generated not only in the production of the product, but throughout the line from the suppliers of raw materials until it reaches the hands of who purchases the garment.
In other words, it means third place after the food industry and the construction industry. The problem is not dressing, but how we have been doing so far. If we add to this the fact that the latest IPCC report indicated that we are on track to increase the global temperature by 1.5 degrees, it is worrying and we must take urgent action.

Fashion is one of the industries that has more room to reverse processes. Emissions along the chain represent 40% according to this year's SBTi report. What does this mean? that there is much that can be done: companies can replace their energy with a "greener" one, choose more responsible raw materials and with more transparent, local processes, among other things.

The fashion industry must focus on slowing down its productions, having more responsibility and information from its suppliers of raw materials, offsetting its carbon emissions, using sustainable packaging, generating honest and legal employment, taking responsibility for its waste, taking responsibility for its products when its useful life is over, give alternatives to its customers in this regard. As consumers we have the opportunity to ask questions whenever we buy, always.
